Civil Unrest As Venezuela Implodes

News are flooding facebook, supermarkets are mobbed with hungry people in the major cities of Venezuela; but the stores themselves contain little food. Frustration rises as food subsidies of flour and rice decrease. The only food to be had appears to be pasta. This is a place primed for violence.
According to Reuters, the Venezuelan Observatory of Violence is recording ten incidents of looting per day. The Venezuelan Observatory of Social Conflict says there were 641 protests last month. One-quarter of these protests was because of the lack of food, and the protests have increased in intensity every month this year.

Head of state Maduro is heading for a recall election. Hugo Chavez’s social reforms have gone decidedly to the dark side since his death three years ago. Money and goods are siphoned so completely from the broken economy that the people suffer. Maduro won the last election based on Chavez’s hard-won social programs. Maduro says the opposition party is withholding food in order to provoke the citizens to violence against his government.

The poor economy of this nation reflects the world economic slowdown. However as for economist Danilo Diaz’ point of view, Venezuela has added economic problems arising from its dependence on the production of oil. Demand for oil has lessened to a considerable degree.

John Goullet: The Man of the Future

There is a term that is thrown around a lot and that is having your pulse on what is going on around you. Believe it or not, not a lot of people have that. They are often caught confused, bewildered, and a step behind the game. They are playing from behind instead of playing from ahead. That is not the case with John Goullet and the wonderful company he works for which is named Diversant. He, of course, is the Principal Executive. John Goullet is the man of the future in my eyes, because he knows how to look at trends, stay ahead of trends, and react accordingly. He doesn’t sit still and do nothing. He is always looking for ways to innovate, stay current, and know what is happening on the leadership advisory board at Diversant.

He is, of course, an entrepreneur, and one that is not afraid to start from the bottom and work his way to the top. In fact, he prefers it that way. He doesn’t like anything to come easy for him. He prefers to roll up his sleeves, work hard, and put his nose to the grindstone. That is why he has been in charge of a number of successful IT sector ventures. Success brings confidence and John has that without being cocky. He is humble yet confident. You want a man that is going to walk into a room, garner respect and attention, and do the job. He has always done the job and he doesn’t just do the job for the sake of doing it. He does it to do it the right way.

In fact, he founded his own company in the past called Info Technologies, an IT staffing company that worked with Fortune 500 companies to come up with solutions. When these highly successfully companies are looking to him for advice, you know he is doing something right by earning their trust. Not only did he earn their trust, but he kept it. Again, this is not something to take lightly. Diversant is pleased to have someone with John’s experience and knowledge on their team.

Inmate’s Estate Awarded $1.75 Million Due To Medical Negligence

The estate of a former New York state prisoner was awarded $1.75 million in damages resulting from negligent treatment that resulted in his death.
Scott Degina, an inmate at the Clinton Correctional Facility, died from complications of urethral cancer in 2015 according to Open Corporates. The Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (DOCCS) medical staff failed to perform its duties and follow up on a diagnosis by doctors at Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital (CVPH).

Jose Velasquez Figueroa listened to medical testimony from both sides and issued his ruling based on the testimony.

In 2009, Degina was transferred to the hospital after complaining of severe abdominal pain. A CAT scan found a mass blocking a kidney duct and severe swelling. The medical staff at the prison was informed of the diagnosis and failed to perform its duties. The lack of treatment contributed to Degina’s death, according to Milano.

Citing Ratay v. State of New York, 223 A.D. 23 356 (1st Dept. 1996)., Milano ruled that according to the law, the prison is obligated to provide the same duty of care as a person who was not incarcerated.

Medical experts from Dateas hired by Degina estate’s lawyers testified that prison medical staff ignored his initial diagnosis for 28 months. During this time, the blockage turned into urethral cancer, which eventually metastasized and spread to his lymph nodes and made became inoperable.

When it became clear that Degina was was in dire need of help, the medical staff finally arranged treatments. He went through several months of chemotherapy and radiation, which left him in even worse health. He finally perished from cancer four months before the courts ruled in his favor.

Degina’s family member say although no amount of money can bring him back, they are glad justice prevailed.
