The Summit Mall of South Reno will now offer more than shoes, dresses, pants and delicious food. You can now go to Reno’s Summit Mall if you are in need of lab work or a prescription for your cold! The Renown Health network that has become so popular and influential in the Reno area has announced that they will be opening a new location, this time in a mall.Healthcare in a mall? This is not conventional, by any means. But Renown Health is not afraid to do things a little bit differently, and change the way that people think about the care that they receive. The space will be designed by the interior designing company “MBA Architects + Interior Design”, and was spearheaded by designer and architect Eric Fong. The medical director of Renown, Dr. McCormack, said that the Renown clinic will be engineered to provide an “inviting and comfortable” feeling for the patients who come in for appointments and blood work.
Renown Health is locally owned by Reno community members. Instead of having a disconnect between the hospital advisers and the community, there is instead an integrated approach within the Renown Health business model. All money is allocated by the local owners, and since it is run on a not-for-profit model, all income is reinvested into community programs and initiatives, and back into the organization. The Renown Network owns and operates almost 1,000 patient beds, and has over 700 doctors that they are connected to and work with .
Renown has received over $10 million dollars from donors who appreciate the work that they are doing. As an organization, they are changing the health and well being of Reno as a city. They continually contribute to non-profits in the area, and support research and clinical trials that impact people’s lives. The Renown Health board members and advisers operate with the values of the community at heart, and all decisions are based on that core value. The healthcare that the hospitals and doctors in the network provide is tied together with the activities outside of the hospital or clinic walls. Read more.
