The Squaw Valley redevelopment plan includes more tourist housing and an additional workforce. Wirth said the Placer County Planning Commission agreed to the plan, and the County Board of Supervisors should give its final approval this fall.
Andy Wirth is an important figure in the Reno-Lake Tahoe area. He was recently elected chairperson of the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority. That organization is responsible for bringing more airline service to the Reno-Tahoe International Airport.
Wirth played an instrumental role in convincing Alaska Airlines to add service to the Reno-Tahoe International Airport from Orange Country, California. Wirth always got Jet Blue to add flights from JFK to Reno-Tahoe International Airport.

He has been part of the ski resort business for more than 25 years, and he is a mountaineer at heart. Andy was a backcountry ranger early in his ski career, and he worked for the Steamboat Springs Ski Resort for 20 years.
Mr. Wirth came to the Lake Tahoe area in 2010 when the Cushing family decided to renovate the Squaw Valley Ski Resort. Nancy Cushing, the CEO of the resort, named Wirth her successor, and he oversaw the multi-million-dollar renovation of the resort.
Wirth has also made an impact on several charitable organizations in the Lake Tahoe area. He is an Ironman competitor, and a runner. Wirth is also active in the Truckee River Watershed Council.
The redevelopment plan for North Lake Tahoe is a project that is long overdue, according to Mr. Wirth. He said the traffic is out-of-control and it has to be corrected as soon as possible.
